Schlitterbahn is not your ordinary waterpark! This huge Texas waterpark spans over 70 acres and is filled with a lot of activities that are not just for kids but for the whole family as well. Bring your family over and let’s make your vacation SPECTACULAR with these tips.
1. Map out the park

Schlitterbahn is divided into two parts which are the Westside and the East Side.

The Westside is the original park where you can find several tube chutes. It’s surrounded by a lot of beautiful oak trees and it's where you are going to experience being dumped into the ice-cold Comal waters.

There are a lot of activities you can do here with your kids and here are some of them:
  • Lagoon Kids’ Area - This park overlooks the Comal River and four side-by-side giant mushroom slides are installed to keep your child entertained.
  • Polywog Pond Kiddie Park - Kids can explore across suspension bridges and slide down through them. There’s also a giant friendly frog slide.
  • Tadpool Kiddie Pool - A very fun pool where kids can slide down a seashell, giant frog’s tongue, or get sprayed by a pachyderm.
Rides for you or your teens:
  • Aquaveyer - Tubers will get an out-of-water experience as the Aquaveyer will take them to the beginning of the falls.
  • Bahnzai Pipeline - A very thrilling tube slide. It is a twin four-story high tunnel slide where you will ride in the inner tube.
  • Cliffhanger Tube Chute - Never miss this tube chute, it brings you down to the Comal River!

The East side consists of the Schlitterbahn's 2 new water adventures. Surfenburg has one main ride called the Dragon’s Revenge. It features a lot of children’s water activities including a pirate ship, a submarine, and a lazy river. Blastenhoff’s main attraction is a huge tower that takes off three rides.

Here are some activities in the East for your kids:
  • Butterfly Bayou - Your kids will enjoy a new collection of pint-sized water slides and body slides.
  • Kiddie Coast - Located right in the center of Surfenburg where you can find a pirate ship, a yellow submarine, and slide down in an octopus’ arms.
Ride for you or your teens:
  • Han’s Hideout - A multi-level, five-story-tall water funhouse filled with fun water activities. The spotlight is the bow of old Han's shipwreck that dumps out 500 gallons of water every 5-minutes.
  • Back Splash - A must-try and favorite among all types of guests. This body slide will let you slip and slide into the Kristal River.
  • Wolfpack Raft Slide - This ride allows families to experience the slide together. It will take you to twists, turns, and drops before dropping off to five stories below.

2. Rent a Cabana

There are several types of cabanas that you can choose from located in several parts. Each of them is private, shaded, and food and drink service, barbecue grill, and a minifridge are available.

3. Look for suitable accommodations

The park offers lodging accommodations for you to choose from. From vacation houses, lodges, cabins, to luxury suites they got it covered for you for amazing prices to match. It’s also great to stay at the resort to get early access to rides.

4. Pack drinks and snacks
The lines can get long in the park, so feel free to bring your own food and beverages.

5. Consider buying Blast Pass

This pass is perfect if you’re bringing your kids with you. It’s a ride reservation wristband that allows you to reserve the rides and skip the lines.

6. Buy tickets online
Tickets are more affordable online especially if they’re bought in a resort package. You can check their website for your types of admission.

7. Alcohol and glass containers are not allowed.

8. Rent a locker
You can rent a locker to keep your belongings for $10.

9. Kids ages 2 and under and parking is FREE!

10. Look for the best place to “camp”
Consider choosing a shaded place in the part you’re going to for example look for tables under a giant umbrella.

After your fun-filled water adventure, take time to explore the town as well. There are so many places you can visit in New Braunfels too and make sure to visit 7Monk’s Café, an award-winning Indian and Mediterranean restaurant, for lunch or dinner.

Enjoy your vacation!
